Child Safety Commitment Statement:At Sacred Heart we hold the care, safety and wellbeing of children as a central and fundamental responsibility of our school. At all times, the ongoing safety and wellbeing of all children at Sacred Heart will be the primary focus of care and decision-making, with particular attention paid to the cultural safety of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and children from culturally and/or linguistically diverse backgrounds, as well as the safety of children with a disability. This commitment to child safety is reflected in all policies and procedures at our school.
Sacred Heart Parish School is a Catholic Parish Primary School situated in Fernhill Road Sandringham. The school has a strong community base, which embraces and fosters its children, staff, parent and community through our gospel beliefs. Our vision statement is a ‘living’ policy document, which will enable us to make relevant changes and therefore, stay in tune with current curriculum and educational practices. Christ is the central focus of our school and we are witnesses to him and his teachings, in our daily lives.
Sacred Heart Parish School caters for approximately 220 children. The school was established by the Presentation Sisters in 1912 and was under their direction for seventy years. In 1989, the first lay Principal was appointed. The school has well-maintained modern facilities and grounds, twelve separate classroom areas, a library, Maths Enrichment Centre, an Art Studio, with both a parish and Mackillop Hall. The school places high regard on community, respect and achieving our best. We take seriously our responsibility for the well-being of students with an effective pastoral care/student well-being system.
Sacred Heart Parish School offers a broad integrated/holistic curriculum, with particular emphasis on the importance of a well-structured Religious Education program from Prep to Year 6. Our parent community is closely involved in the school activities.
